I held it together until I got to the car

And then I just cried.
The ugly crying too. I was almost glad my DH wasn't there to hear the sobs and sniffling.

You guys,
How does anyone afford all this crap!?
Really? 1,500 for an IUI?
Really? 20,000 for Laparascopy?
16,000 for one cycle of IVF (no, no money back if you don't get pregnant!)

I don't know who I'm most mad at:
Insurance? WHY ISN'T INFERTILITY COVERED! Do they think I want a Laparascopy because I'm bored? I just want random tests and scars? NO!
My Own body? How freaking hard is it to get pregnant?
Brad and Jennifer? For making people think that IVF is no big deal and easy?

I'm bouncing between super angry, and super sad. I just polished off a bag of chips (which is NEVER a good sign) and I'm worried I might bake cookies.

Tonight I'll have a long talk with the DH to of course get his input. but Crap. This is just not fair. As if I needed reminding that the world isn't fair.

That was me when I got the diagnosis to go to the RE. I bawled my eyes out.

Thank heavens MA has health insurance that covers infertility. Apparently we're one of four states in the country. If we didn't have that, I don't know what we would have done. The decisions ahead of you are tough.

Couple thoughts:
~Can they get the laparascopy coded as a medical need instead of IF?
~Have you looked into RESOLVE? They're a national organization that helps with infertility advocacy.

I'll be praying for you.

I think blogger just ate my very long comment...if it didn't, I'm sorry for duplicating.

If you don't already know, we need to find out if your state has an IF mandate...that's how we ended getting insurance to pay some. I can find out if your state has one if you like.

Your doctor needs to code your laprascopic surgery for medical, endo removal, that sort of thing...then your insurance has to pay. That's what we did with mine but I had to have that talk with my doctor first and let him know that insurance would not pay unless he coded it that way.

God didn't wake up surprised by all of this...He is in control and He's going to take care of you. Don't forget that. I had a meltdown last night and had to remind myself of this. It's so easy to just want to give up but we can't.

I'm covering you in prayer today...hang in there.

I don't have even a tissue at my RE's office covered by insurance if the office billing folks stick any sort of IF-related code and submit it. BUT my otherwise nasty insurance covered all my lap and hysteroscopy stuff because I had some disturbing spotting/bleeding. If you have anything--even mildly painful PMS, suspicions of endo--get your RE to code it as such.

My insurance also seems to have covered some of my ultrasounds, even though they were related to an IUI. Again, any serious REs office knows what crap we IFers face, and most of them want us to be able to get whatever we can from our expensive but useless premiums.

I completely feel your pain on this. My insurance covers so little and the procedures themselves are so ridiculously expensive. This is one of the biggest battles that we need to fight as an IF community.
