Moving On

Today I'm heading to the RE to meet and discuss what happened (um, I don't think that takes a genious) and what to do about it.
The good news? I mean the really good news? I think DH and I have decided what to do next. It took some time to figure out whether to wait before trying IVF#2 or a FET (what he wanted) or to jump back on the bandwaggon (what I wanted to do). A lot of course depends on the timelines provided by the RE, but I think we're headed towards a FET at some point this summer. I'm optimistic and feel pretty good that this is what we should do. We've got 5 frozen embryos and they're not all great quality, so I think we'll have to see what defrosts.
So questions:
I am not finding much about FET cycles (surprisingly). For those of you who have done it, did your doc's do 'natural' cycles or controlled cycles (on birth control, etc.)? I know my doc has good numbers on FETs, but I want to have as much info as possible before going in.

So, more to come later... let's get us all knocked up in '09...!

I'm happy to hear you're ready to try again!! All I had to take beforehand, for my FET, was estrogen injections...no bcp. FET's are so much easier on your body. After going through a full cycle of IVF, you are going to think the FET is a piece of cake. :)

I will be covering you guys and those little embryos in prayer.

((hugs))

I used donor embryos for my cycle but it should be the same as yours in general for a FET.My first cycle I was only on follistim and would have been on a estrogen and progesterone (and a hcg trigger) if I had made it that far but I had a cyst rupture and cause a period so I was cancelled. The next time I was on follistim (they upped the dose from last time),lupron flare protocol, progesterone, estrogen and birth control pills, medrol and a trigger hcg shot.Which turned out successful as I then got my BFP.When I do it all over again I would choose what we did the second time around as it kept my ovaries quiet and things on schedule and obviously was successful. If you have any questions it's all in my blog or feel free to contact me through email (also on my blog) or through comments.Take care and I am hoping that this summer will make your dreams come true.

I will be doing FET June/July. I will be on bcp, lupron, estrogen patches, and PIO shots. I'm not sure how much or how long...but hopefully it will end with a BFP. Another girl, just did a natural FET and got her BFP. Her RE only monitored her natural ovulation and lining....that's was it...and it worked...

My doctor will only do a FET if you have frozen embryos. He won't move on to a fresh cycle if you still have anything still frozen. Good luck with everything!

We did controlled cycles, and I would highly recommend that. I had one cycle that was uncontrolled and I ovulated, and the entire cycle was canceled. It was really frustrating! I would also definitely ask for your doc to put you on Lupron to keep you from ovulating. Both a friend and I learned this the hard way.

I'm happy you're jumping back in, but make sure you give yourself time to heal!
