Question...

One more thing,
This Friday I'm scheduled to have a physical with my regular family dr. (I like to do that once a year). But this means a pap smear. Okay, so then I will only be 7 dpo, so it will be too early for a pregnancy test.
1. Will a pap smear affect the potential baby I may or may not have? Don't they open your cervix? Could that harm an embryo?
2. I know I need a tetnus shot. Could that cause a problem?
Let me know. I can reschedule the physical if there are problems, but I want to get it out of the way if not.

Thoughts? Advice?

I'd be on the safe side and tell them you're ttc and you're 7 dpo. The pap shouldn't affect things at all - they give paps to many pregnant women at their first OB appt if they haven't had one in a year. The tetanus shot I'd be leary of - I'd be doing some serious googling first. :)

I'm going to ask my doctor tomorrow about getting a tetanus shot. They are giving them away for free at work and I am way overdue for one. I'll let you know what he says.

I'd tend to err on the side of caution with the tetanus shot. Ask your ObGyn- Last year when I was going through one of my IUI rounds, I had my yearly appt. My Ob told me there was no need to worry because anything she was doing wouldn't hurt me,even if I was pregnant.

I would just ask the dr when you go in. I know they told me not to do the pap smear if I was pregnant -- but they did an endo biopsy when I was post ovulation (I cannot remember how many days) and she said it shouldn't affect if even if I was pregnant because the egg wouldn't have implanted yet.

I'm going for my annual pap too!!

Ok. So I just got a call from my RN. Apparently you're not supposed to do a pap smear when you're taking clomid as it can skew results. At least, that's what she told me. Just thought I'd pass on the info. I cannot remember if you did clomid this cycle. It might not be a problem po. Not sure. She said essentially I have a 5 day window each cycle to have a pap smear... so I get to keep calling dr office to try and schedule if not pregnant.

Thanks for swinging by my blog last week. I am also (not) celebrating my two year TTC anniversary.

I'll be rooting for you!

I'm glad that you shared at church. It is hard because some people really do say stupid things, but it will be really great to have them praying for you. I've pretty much become completely open about my struggles with work and church, and it just makes me feel better not to have to hide it anymore. Baby dust!
